12 BLACK WOMEN TO WATCH
It’s Black History Month, and while celebrating the creative and artistic genius of Black women doesn’t need to be reserved just to February, I think that this is such a beautiful opportunity to celebrate and spotlight some women that I’m really inspired by that I think you would also love. One of the reasons that I feel like this is really important to spotlight these women is because I remember growing up in a small town, and there just weren’t a lot of aspirational women of color that I felt like I could look up to in the creative space, specifically.
TELL HIM WHAT YOU WANT
Ladies, many of us have Valentine’s Day on the brain, and I have a bit of a hot take when it comes to gifting. It is okay to tell him what you want. And yes, I am being 100% serious with you. Tell HIM.
28 DAYS OF STYLE
It’s the beginning of the year, which means many of us are resetting in our own unique way. Maybe you just finished Dry January, or you’re participating in a spending or shopping fast. Perhaps you’re making fitness a priority, choosing to fast from food or television, or even making the effort to get up earlier. No matter how you’re doing it, there are all sorts of ways to start the year with a reset and recalibration. There is just something so nice about starting the year with a clean slate, isn’t there? Doing a beginning of the year reset brings a sense of calm and positivity and allows you to start the year off on the right foot.
PREPARING YOURSELF FOR THE NEW YEAR
Well gals, we’ve officially reached that moment in the year where we are all considering a hard reset. As you know, the New Year is a perfect time to set goals and make resolutions. In fact, we see encouragement to do exactly that everywhere we look. While resets are good, resets that are accompanied by a never-ending to-do list is just a recipe for disaster! What I have learned over the years is that we actually have to be prepared for a New Year’s reset.
HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR CALM DURING THESE FINAL HOLIDAYS
I’m sure I’m not alone in this… but I often find the December calendar to be stressful! While most of us absolutely love the holidays, spending time with family and friends can add a layer of tension for a lot of people. As I have delved into the journey of learning about myself and learning to better love others, I’ve been able to find small ways that pack a big punch in maintaining my sense of calm during these final holidays.
TAKE IT FROM THE PROS: HOLIDAY HAIR & MAKEUP ELEVATE
Ladies. The holiday parties have commenced. Whoop whoop. I can’t lie…I do love any and every excuse to dress up. It’s my love fashion language…truly. My love of all things beauty, fashion and hair really comes from a lifetime of wearing dance costumes and competing in pageants, which was literally many moons ago. My life has changed a lot since spending time on stage, including my approach to hair and makeup (Thank the Lord). For my OG girls here…you might remember that about 8 to 10 years ago we were all wearing full faces of makeup on the daily and doing all the things to the hair.
HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE NO. 3: THE well-fashioned gent
The aspiring well-fashioned gent. I know exactly who is because my husband is HIM! It might have something to do with being married to a stylist..just maybe. Overall, Jason is still very laidback when it comes to his dress, but he loves finding unique ways to take his outfit up “one click” as I like to say. And honestly, after chatting with many of you via Instagram….
MY GIFT GIVING PHILOSOPHY.
That time of the year has arrived..gift giving season. If I am being honest, this pressure to gifting can feel immense. The endless emails, the gift guides on social media, the television commercials…it all becomes a LOT! While we are so thankful we have resources to help us gather inspiration, I do believe it can cause a little bit of trouble..
HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE NO.2: THE FASHION GAL
As you gals know, I very much have a love/hate relationship with Gift Guides. Always have. Perhaps this is too much honesty on a Wednesday morning, but here we are. Of the course of the this year, I’ve had lots of conversations with various people in my circle of this crazy influencer world and have realized that a part of my job here is to serve YOU.

READ HOME: The Living room
And just like that, we have been living in our charming 1930s cape cod home for 8 months. Honestly, where has time gone? And honestly, I shouldn’t even say that, because it is the most cliche saying these days…time seemingly just flies by and there is no point in mentioning it. But before I start down a rabbit hole of nonsense…let’s talk about home design.

5 WAYS TO TIE A BUTTON DOWN
When it comes to well-fashioned dress, one of the most critical elements to hone in on is the finishing details. Finishing details include cuffing, scrunching, finessing, tucking, belting, all the things. Think about your favorite style inspirations for a moment. Reflect on some of your favorite outfits they’ve worn…key in on the things that really drew you to the look. In my experience, I find that many are drawn to the composition of the outfit and how it was finished. It’s truly magic.
QUARTERLY RESET & Transition
Welp, that was fast.
And just like that (can you believe that I still have not watched that yet?!), April is here and 2022 is just flying by. Honestly, I am not sure why I am even surprised by the fact that time is consistently speeding by. It’s not new news, but I am shocked every time.
4 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN LOOKING FOR A HAIRSTYLIST

One thing I knew from the start

That’s when I started cultivating things here on the Internet. If we want to be honest, I actually started in 2012...but it was more online diary vibes and I had no clue what I was doing. Just sharing my experiences while living in the Big Apple. Such a magical time in my life. In the Summer of 2013, Jason and I got married and I moved away from NYC shortly before our wedding day. We had big plans to move back. However, that all changed when I got that first student loan bill in the mail around November...I was crushed about both the loan and not going back.

DESIGNER PIECES: 5 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE PURCHASING
Insert excerpt herehis is a question I am asked regularly and it’s a dang good one if you ask me. As a stylists, one of my greatest joys is seeing clients graduate into higher categories of spending. And honestly, it has nothing to do with the fact that it is xyz brand, but because I know the value and longevity they have just welcomed into their wardrobe.
LET’S TALK LUXURY
A word that can be both celebrated and detested in today’s culture depending on your individual perspective and world view. I know, I know…you might be thinking, “Candace, how does the phrase world view and luxury even exist in the same sentence?” And you know what I would say, “That is a great question!” I am not sure that I can explain all the interwoven details in one post, but I do think we can start the conversation. So let’s talk luxury. And the best way to start that conversation is by referencing one of my most favorite movies of all time, The Devil Wears Prada. I
