BLACK GIRL MAGIC.
It’s Black History Month, and while celebrating the creative and artistic genius of Black women doesn’t need to be reserved just to February, I think that this is such a beautiful opportunity to celebrate and spotlight some women that I’m really inspired by that I think you would also love. One of the reasons that I feel like this is really important to spotlight these women is because I remember growing up in a small town, and there just weren’t a lot of aspirational women of color that I felt like I could look up to in the creative space, specifically. I think a lot of that had to do with the time I was living in and the region I was living in, but it certainly made an impact.
Over the course of my adulthood, I have been very intentional about seeking out aspirational and inspirational women of color. I am intentional about finding those women who look like me that sprinkle creative and well-fashioned magic all over social media, and really, all over the world.
And so, without further ado, here is a list of twelve inspiring Black women who I think you should watch and follow:
Shannae Ingleton-Smith
Shannae co-founded a boutique influencer management firm called The Kensington Grey Agency. She focuses on representing content creators of color, and her agency is really making waves! You’ll be introduced to so many amazing Black influencers through her account.
Candace Mary
Candace is an incredible interior designer in Chicago. Candace’s account will inspire you to create beautiful spaces in your home.
Precious Adams
Precious is an incredible ballerina with the English National Ballet. You’lll be absolutely inspired by her athleticism and grace when following her account!
Influencing In Color
This gorgeous group of four ladies are based in Houston, and are committed to inclusion and diversity within the influencer space. Following them will encourage you to engage in advocacy and do it all in beautiful fashion.
Kah Li Haslam
Kah Li Haslam is a fashion editor, celebrity stylist and creative consultant based in New York City. She has styled amazing people like Misty Copeland, former mayor of Atlanta Keisha Lance Bottoms, and Questlove. Following her will bring so much beauty to your timeline.
Kimberly Lewis
Kimberly owns Emerson Grace, Nashville’s shopping destination for elevated casual women’s clothes. Her feed is absolutely stunning, and shows that elegance can be approachable!
Mariya Russell
Mariya is an amazing chef, and was the first Black woman to receive a Michelin star. She started her career in Chicago, and now resides in Honolulu, Hawaii. She shares the most unbelievable looking food, so beware that her feed will indeed make you hungry!
Olivia McDowell
Olivia is based in NYC, and shares the most gorgeous outfit and beauty tips. Following her will inspire you to try out staple pieces in a variety of ways.
Jasmine Tookes
Jasmine is a model and former Victoria’s Secret angel. Her feed is a favorite place to draw inspiration because all of her content is aspirational and stunning. She shares the prettiest images of her home, beauty routine, and fashion.
Jenee’ Naylor
Jenee’ focuses on making luxury and style attainable by mixing high and low pieces. She has worked in a variety of places included within Target leadership, but left that path to pursue blogging full time. Her page will inspire you to mix high and low pieces, and to follow your dreams, even if they’re a bit scary!
Karen Blanchard
Karen is a fashion stylist with a massive following on YouTube. She is a Brit living in New York, and aside from her gorgeous beauty and fashion content, she’s also shared so much of her home renovation. You’ll be absolutely inspired by the beauty she shares!
Liv Madeline
Liv is based in London, and shares the most gorgeous interior design ideas. Following Liv will inspire you to find ways to elevate your closet staples, and make your home a cozy, stunning space.
