The Finishing Details.
When it comes to well-fashioned dress, one of the most critical elements to hone in on is the finishing details. Finishing details include cuffing, scrunching, finessing, tucking, belting, all the things. Think about your favorite style inspirations for a moment. Reflect on some of your favorite outfits they’ve worn…key in on the things that really drew you to the look. In my experience, I find that many are drawn to the composition of the outfit and how it was finished. It’s truly magic.
For today’s post, I am diving into one of the most iconic ways to complete a look and that is by tucking! For a while there, tucking your top was something of the past, but over the last few years this styling concept is back and is accepted by all. One of the most notable tucks at the moment is the half tuck, which I find that some people love and some hate. I must admit…I LOVE IT.
The beauty of a tuck/tie of a top is simple, bringing definition to the waist. Ultimately, when we are getting dressed, we want to create a balance in the top and lower portions of the body. The goal is for the eye to naturally move up and down the body and we do that by creating shape. One way we do this is by tucking! If we have the right pieces in the wardrobe, the concept of tucking can work for many body types (kindly noting that I did not say this works for EVERY, because it doesn’t...but it can work for many...we can do a deep dive into that later).
When it comes to adding definition to the waist via a tie/tuck, I like to opt for these 5 ways:
Classic Front Tuck
Crisscross Tuck
Western Tie
One Side Half Tuck
Classic Half Tuck
You can get an inside glimpse at these by checking out the latest reel via my Instagram:
And of course, because I adore you, I am sharing a few delicious oversized button downs that I think you will love.
