Over the last couple of months, I have learned quite a bit about myself. One of those things being that I absolutely love those richer, deeper reds. Cranberry, Marsala, Wine, whatever you want to call them, I love them all. For some silly reason, that I likely created in High School, I stayed away from this shade of red until February 2016. Yup, that was pretty much silly, because this color is amazingly flattering and ultra-feminine.
With it being the week before Valentine's Day, I wanted to be sure to take the time and share a couple of looks that will hopefully inspire you to explore your style in preparation for society's communal date night. haha. If you have not noticed, I am pretty girlie, which means I am semi-obsessed with the idea of Valentine's Day. I love the thought of getting all dressed up and hitting the town with Jason. However, we do that pretty frequently throughout the year and often skip Valentine's Day, because I'm out of town (as I will be again this year). But if I had my way, there's no doubt about it, I would be dressed to THE NINES for an evening with my darling dear.Back in early December, I received this stunning piece from Dainty Jewell's Apparel. It's called the Hampton Dress, which I find incredibly fitting, as it is the epitome of luxe! I actually wore this dress to a December wedding, but when styling it I recall saying to myself, "how perfect this dress would also be for Valentine's Day!" For me, I was captivated by the slight high-low hem line and the additional lace detailing around the sleeves and collar. When it came to styling this piece, there's no doubt about it, I wanted the dress and it's depth to remain the focal point. Everything incorporated into the final look was strategically layered to add value to the dress! I opted for gold based accessories, as gold is the ideal color for a deep shade of red. In some unique way, I feel that gold helps to brighten the red even more! To make sure there was a hint of unpredictability in the look, the earrings I selected had a touch of blue, which was just enough. A nude clutch and pumps are, of course, staples in my wardrobe...there isn't much to explain there. LOL. And to complete the look, I selected a complimentary lip that allowed me to create a monochromatic effect! Oh, and of course no look is complete for Candace Read without oversized eyewear. Yup, I'm obsessed with this look! Overall, it's a more modest piece than what most women would select for Valentine's Day; however, it's amazingly feminine and sexy without revealing a thing! As you begin to brainstorm on creating the most perfect look for Valentine's Day, don't allow the World to pressure you into be overly revealing. Something more modest with a touch of leg, can be just as PERFECT.
