Well hello, my fine people. I’ve got a treat for you today and that is a rundown on some denim styles you need for this spring! But perhaps what is even cooler than these denim styles is who I am collaborating with to bring you this content and that is Caralyn Mirand Koch! Caralyn is a fellow content creator and curve model who is truly just a gem.  Also, I should share, she’s a BOSS undergarment expert. To put it simply, I’m ecstatic that we could join forces to bring you some super denim insight.

As you know, I am a wardrobe stylist, and one of the most valued style rules is that proper fit is QUEEN. And that fit is determined by your individual shape. Oftentimes it takes some dancing to find your groove with denim, but it is indeed possible if you are willing to do the dance (both literally and figuratively speaking…haha). Caralyn and I are both hourglass shapes, but different sizes (I am a 26 and Caralyn a 32 in denim). With that in mind, we rounded up some jean options that worked for our hourglass shapes and our respective sizes. 2 out of 3 of our options are cropped straight/kick flare options, because cropped is all the rave right now and I am here for it. Truly! In fact, I feel better in my cropped, be that straight or kick flare options, than I do skinny denim. We’ll talk about that more later, but for now, here’s our denim rundown! Oh, one more thing, keep in mind that every body is different. These are soft recommendations that work for Caralyn and me. I want you to dig deep to find what works for YOU. Knowing Caralyn, she would want you to do the same. Use this as inspiration! Allow this to spark some denim inspiration, so you can find the denim beauties you need for the season ahead.

DENIM NO 1.

Abercrombie & Fitch Vintage Kick Flare

I love all the jeans we tried in our round up of essential spring styles, but this might be my most favorite of all. Love them mucho and the price is RIGHT for all. Under $100. These are the Abercrombie & Fitch Vintage Kick Flare, complete with a raw hem and very subtle distressing. There’s no doubt about it, I’ll be wearing these on repeat! In addition to the other details, the button fly closure is very chic. This style is available in regular, short or tall, which is great so you can get the proper leg proportions. And they go up to size 33! Carayln and I are bothing wearing the regular length.

DENIM NO 2.

 Madewell Perfect Vintage

A little less flare, a touch more straight. This style is from Madewell. You’ll notice that we are wearing different washes, which is a part of the beauty of this style and its collection, with so many color options. Madewell was the first brand I ever spent over $100 on for denim and boy was it a game-changer. Madewell also offers short, regular, and tall. Naturally, their denim has a touch of stretch, so sizing down is normal. In this style, I am wearing a 25 and Caralyn a 31!

Lastly, but certainly not least, denim from DL1961. I first learned about DL1961 when I was doing a denim project in graduate school. So fun and I should share that with you some time! But for now, let me stay on topic! So skinny jeans…I am sure you’ve heard the buzz…they are out! Well, they are not out, we just aren’t wearing them as much as we move into the new season. More relaxed and straight denim has been trending for a few seasons now and we are going all in for Spring! So what about your skinny jeans? Hang on to them if you are like me and prefer your more straight options right now. If you like your skinny denim, keep wearing them and add an updated shoe option to keep them feeling fresh and relevant, like Caralyn did.

And there you have it darlings, 3 denim options for Spring ’21! Be sure to scoot on over to Instagram a little later today, as I’ll be sharing a few various shoe options you can wear with your cropped denim via a REELS, because that is my number one DM question at the moment. Also, be sure to check out Caralyn Mirand on IG too. I can promise that she will bring you relevant style, delight and confidence!

Happy Friday all : )

BEST,

Candace
