Often times in our skincare journeys, we get very comfortable with what products we are using. It becomes routine! However, I’ve learned that we should always be looking for additional products to supplement our skincare regimen to make our skin even more radiant! It’s no surprise, I love SheaMoisture and have often talked about how much I love the brand’s hair care products and how using their products has helped me achieve my hair care goals! I’m not sure why it took me so long to give their skincare products a whirl.
Before we dive a bit deeper into what new SheaMoisture skincare goods I recently picked up from Walmart, I feel that it is important that I share a little bit of background on my skincare! To be completely transparent, it has not been until more recent years that I’ve given a heavy focus on my skincare game. There’s something about approaching 30 that just kinda shocks you! Anywho, a big part of this new love was that I began to develop adult acne…bad breakouts on the jawline and chin area that would often result in hyper-pigmentation (aka leaving a big ugly back spot), regardless of what I did. Acknowledging this pattern that was consistently happening, I knew I needed to take action to get my skincare regimen in tip-top shape and I’m proud to say that I’ve done that! woot woot.
One of the things that I’ve learned on this journey to more radiant and healthy skin, is that we should always be looking for supplemental products that allow us to further strengthen our skin goals! In terms of troubled/acne-like skin, finding skincare products that do not cost my arm and your leg CAN BE HARD! I recently discovered SheaMoisture’s African Black Soap Collection, which is totally affordable and includes a great line-up of products. During my recent trip to Walmart, I picked up the African Black Soap Bamboo Charcoal Micellar Water, African Black Soap Bar Soap , and African Black Soap Problem Skin Facial Wash & Scrub. Just to give you guys a little context, African Black Soap is a great agent for problematic skin…like, beyond GREAT. Perhaps what I love most about this collection of products is that they can be used consistently and together on a daily basis or they can be used individually if you are trying to target a specific concern. The African Black Soap contains natural ingredients, which draw a parallel between eating healthy for your inside and using natural products to keep from absorbing toxins through your skin and bath regimen.
So here’s a quick rundown on how I’m using the product:
SheaMoisture African Black Bamboo Charcoal Micellar Water: Say hello to my newest makeup remover. The micellar water is rinse-free to gently cleanse one’s face. It removes impurities, dirt, makeup, etc. Before using, I shake the bottle to activate the various ingredients! From there, I apply a generous amount on a cotton pad and begin wiping away the makeup. Perhaps what I love most about this product is how refreshed and hydrated my skin feels after using it!
SheaMoisture African Black Soap Bar Soap: The facial bar is used for cleansing! Immediately after makeup removal, following up with cleansing is always key. This facial bar has a nice lather to it and again, is hydrating! When you have more problematic skin, it can be hard to find things that don’t leave your skin super duper dry. SheaMoisture African Black Soap Bar Soap can be used daily (morning or night) or you can layer it into your skincare routine as an alternating cleanser, depending on your skin.
SheaMoisture African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Wash & Scrub: Exfoliating is essential in a good skincare regimen. However, I find it is often something we tend to leave out, because it’s an extra step! Thankfully, it’s an extra step that only needs to happen once or twice a week, so get into it. The benefits in the SheaMoisture Soap Clarifying Facial Wash & Scrub is that it aids in providing instant resurfacing benefits that help control problematic skin. This product combines tamarind extract, kaolin clay, and tea tree oil…all amazing things for troubled skin. When following your skincare regimen, you would layer in the product following your cleansing and follow up with toning and moisturizing! When using, I like to massage this product in with a facial cloth or sponge. I feel like I get better results that way!
And there you have it, just a few SheaMoisture skincare gems from Walmart! Honestly, I am considering going back to Walmart to pick up all the items in this collection. I specifically have my eye on the SheaMoisture African Black Soap Toner and Clarifying Mud Mask!
