Vertical + Velvet

Vertical stripes + a little dose of velvet. My frand Val would say and I quote, "Yassssssss Queen ."

I have to say, there is something quite magical about the velvet trend. I literally cannot get enough of it these days. Granted, I was a little late to whole-heartedly accepting the trend, but now that I have "my pieces," I am completely and utterly obsessed. I received my first piece of velvet wanderlust this past September while at NYFW, courtesy of my frands over at BaubleBar. Unsure of how I would style the Duchess Choker, I knew the outfit would come together someday, somehow. And that is exactly what happened. One random afternoon, I was just taking a gander around the Madewell site and happened upon the Cali Demi-Boot Jeans (ON SALE) and knew they were made for me and this choker!

Maybe it's just me, but velvet has a natural "dressy" vibe. Maybe that's because I wore cute little velvet dresses on Sundays as a young girl or the velvet dance costumes and pageant dresses. Any who, for me, it was particularly important that I made this velvet centric look as casual and relaxed as possible...hence, the over relaxed button down that is messily tucked. To relax the color vibe, of course I went with golden yellow. As you may know per Instagram, this is my absolute favorite color. In my opinion, adding this color to any look, immediately creates a playful and bright vibe.

To finish off the look, I without question reached for my faithful bronze gold hoops from Madewell, oversized aviators and moody wine colored lip. I'm not 100% sure where I would wear this look, but I feel confident that it would turn heads. Vertical strips and velvet...get into it people!
