If I had things my way, I would most likely live in a hotel. But since that isn't exactly my reality, I jump on any opportunity to venture somewhere new and find a chic overnight stay. Just ask Jason...he will confirm all the above as truth.

You may recall me mentioning that I truly love O-H-I-O, which is indeed true. As I continue to establish roots in this midwestern state and venture beyond the 6-1-4, I find that my love deepens even more for this great state. Earlier this summer, for our anniversary, Jason and I scooted South to the next metropolitan city, Cincinnati. While I had been to Cincy before, I had never it a priority to stay for the weekend and just enjoy (Jason lived there many moons ago!). When it comes to an overnight stay in a hotel, I have one priority and one priority only, EXPERIENCE. My friend Monica once said that that staying in a hotel should transport you...it should feel unique and different for your everyday normal and I could not agree more. For our little getaway to Cincinnati, we stayed at 21c Museum Hotel. And yes, a unique EXPERIENCE is the focal point of this boutique hotel. I am sure the name gives it away, but when art and hospitality are thoughtfully aligned, it makes for the most magical experience.Located in Downtown Cincinnati, 21c Museum Hotel is a layered space: a multi-venue contemporary art museum, a boutique hotel and home of Metropole restaurant. Today, I want to focus on giving you the low-down on the art museum and the room situations and a little later this week,  I will circle back and give you the low-down on Metropole, which is BEYOND AMAZING.As someone with a deep love for the arts (both visual and performing), walking into the lobby of this 21c Cincinnati felt wildly familiar and new all at the same time. The lobby gives you the total contemporary museum vibes. Clean, sleek,   linear and a tad colorful. You feel this immediate allure to start exploring and delving into the art surrounded by you.  Throughout the hotel, there are touches of art everywhere completed with descriptive notes informing you of the artist and a few details about the piece. The lobby serves as the hub of the museum experience and you find a continuation of that experience as you wander to the second floor to find even more art or as you make your way to your room. For our stay, we stayed in the deluxe suite, which was amazingly spacious. We had a lovely dining area, a cozy sitting area completed by an enclosed glass shower and a king-size bed. Initially, our plans included venturing out after checking in, but we found ourselves settling in and just enjoying the space. As you might guess, the room contained unique art elements such as original artwork by Laura Lee Brown and the iconic Yellow Penguin that you will find all over the hotel. Each 21c Hotel has a Penguin mascot in its unique color.Perhaps one of the things I love most about 21c Cincinnati is that this boutique hotel truly has everything you need to settle in for a long weekend. Entertainment (the art you are surrounded by), a restaurant (which we will chat about more in the coming days) and a SPA. I was already in love, but I fell even more in love about wandering to the top floor of 21c for the ultimate afternoon of relaxation. A manicure, followed by a massage and some time in the sauna. Jason even pampered himself with one of the men's treatments and thoroughly enjoyed it.To put it simply, if you are looking to change things up and experience something unique beyond Columbus, I feel confident in saying that you will love your stay 21c Museum Hotel. It is truly special! And oh yes, it is in walking distance of some of the Queen City's other wonderful gems. I'll be sharing about a few of those places hear soon! But for now, I hope you are feeling the itch to book a stay. I promise you won't regret it.Here's to new adventures + amazingly unique stays.
