The first weekend of December has already come and gone…we are officially in full Holiday mode! If your schedule is anything like mine, this upcoming weekend commences the first wave of holiday parties/gatherings. For nearly 11 months of the entire year, I do everything in my power to reserve holiday sequins for the month of December ONLY. There’s just something about sequins in December that make me one happy camper.
As much as I love sequins, I don’t really purchase sequin pieces frequently. In fact, I own about 3 sequin pieces or so and I simply rotate them into the wardrobe during the holiday season. A prime example is this sequin skirt I purchased from EXPRESS nearly 4 years ago (back when I first decided to actually take this blogging thing seriously). Being worn roughly 2 times per year, this beauty has lasted! To give her an updated look for Holiday 2017, I styled this look with a cheap and cheerful bell sleeve t-shirt that I found online (and it’s under $20). Another detail to help update this older, yet completely timeless, pencil sequin skirt are these pretty plum colored earrings from BaubleBar. The color and fringe detail make them perfectly relevant and on-trend for the season!
When you are purchasing novelty pieces, like a sequin skirt, be sure that you are being intentional. Being intentional in your purchases/decisions will ensure that your fun fashion pieces have the best possible life. While I’m certain I will have to retire this skirt after this year (it’s too big now), it’s had a great run of being restyled for 4 Christmas’! I think that’s pretty darn impressive.
Happy Monday + Hello Holiday Parties!
